Get a Dead Car Started

When a car battery dies because you left the lights on, you can generally revive the car battery with a jump start. This is done by connecting the bad battery to a good battery through jumper cables. You'll need a second car that works and a set of jumper cables.

Get both cars as close together as possible so the jumper cables can reach. Attach cables to the good battery first, with the car turned off. Match the red terminal the red wire, and the black to the black. The red is positive, while the black is negative.

Don't allow the two clamps to touch, as this will cause a connection and spark. Attach the cables on the dead battery and turn on the good car. This will provide power from one battery to the other. Let the car run for a few minutes and then start the dead car.
